Default For you serious Bass fisherman

I found a very good forum run by some bass pros. You must be accepted to belong and it is free. I registered 5 days ago and was accepted today. Lot's of wisdom on here.It is strictly for bass fishing .

Chuck7, I haven't used the Luhr Jensen Krocodile spoon for jigging. Since it is a fluted spoon I don't feel it would be all that effective in deep water, these spoons tend to flutter on the fall and tangle the hook on the line way too often. My personal favorite for straight line vertical jigging is a Hopkin's 45 Shorty.
I'm sure if there were fish below you in the 10 foot range you could probably catch a couple on the Kroc., but it wouldn't be my choice of baits. I do my jigging in 30 plus feet of water. Good luck with your fishing, Johnnie

Thank you sir for the advice. I checked Cabelas and Bass Pro and neither carry them.I did find them by going to the Hopkin's site. I plan to order some. Thanks again for the heads up.

Well MTHands...
I hooked up the old TV once again but am very careful at what I watch. Because we have Road Runner for the computer I accidently get 5 cable channels. One is TV Land..all the old goodies like Gunsmoke..and one is a channel that get;s fishing shows

OK here's the deal. Sat. I went out after bumping a worm ..I went back and fished with 24 shiners. It was 12:30 in the afternoon and in 1 1/2 hours I was out of shiners. I was fishing deep water and on suspended fish. I was catching them 2 at a time..it was a trip. Once my Team Diawa left the boat and thank God the cork handle floatsshould of sen me nearly fall out of the boat grabbing for that baby[:-]

I'm thinking 2 things...
A.What is the best lure to catch these fish with..?
B. How do I present that lure to catch fish consistently.?

By pure coincidence I happened to turn on a fishing show. The man on there Giddings I think was....catching deep water suspended fish. I forget the name of his lure but it looked like one of those chrome krocodile spoons. He was simply jigging it in deep water and doing great. This morning I checked my Cabelas and Bass Pro catalogs and both have a lot of great looking jigging spoons. The lure is to look like a falling, dying bait fish.

MT I wish you would have posted 2 of those 3 pounders you caught.

chuck i used hopkins and kastmasters as well but here is something for you to try go look up a shimano butterfly jig the hooks are at the top of the jig leaving the bottom free of a hook. It actually increases hookups and decreases hang up plus you will have 2 hooks there. i dont jig for bass anymore but i do that on all saltwater fish and it works great

nope never caught more thanoneon it dad used to catch em alot but they dont bite it around here like that anymore i would rather use a suspending shad rap on those suspended bass and just stop it every now and then or a rattelin rouge when they are up higher in the water column

chuck i only use jiggin spoons for two types of fishing, i have used the hopkins and a manns and a few others for verticle jigging, but most of this is in deeper water(25'+)over humps and brush, i have also use the kast master on schooling fish in deep open water. cast it out and rip it thru the schooling fish, but for fish suspended in 10-15' i would be using a cranbait, or a carolina rig with a floating lizard or worm.

10-15' would be kinda shallow for me with a jigging spoon
