Good choice especially summer, but my favorite early season lure is a 5" white Mister Twister on a 1/8 oz chartreuse round headed jig. I fish it on UL spinning tacklee/w 4 pound test and throw it from the deep to the shore and reel it back to the boat. Smallmouth bass can't leave it alone.

mr twistster and sencos both great baits. For some reason the twister is a multi species bait for me and the senco is not. I have caught just about everything on a twister while only bass on a senco.

Hard to keep the pike and pickerel away from them. Even perch, and sunnies will chase them. I even use that setup with heavier line when fishing bedded bass because it is so visible.

i'll take it wacky style, 6", with a split shot above the line to get it down faster
