yah a reservoir that ive been dieing to get to is opening up on Sun and it produces lots of big rainbows so im hopin to get a couple on the fly rod and the spin rod since i hear sometimes they prefer the spoons some days over the flies but i know on average a guy will catch 20+ rainbows over 17" in a day so im really pumped.
Just curious but what type of trout are you after childers??
Good luck to both of you. Where I fish in southern wisconsin it is only open to pan fish and non-sport fish right now. So I will be out in about 4 hours searching for crappie!
Sunday, April 1 is opening day for the general trout season...I'll be fishing a couple of local, unstocked tributaries for wild brown trout...
I have heard that the Finger Lake tribs are loaded with spawning rainbows this year, but I avoid them because I don't like the crowds...I prefer fishing secluded streams where I seldom see another fisherman, even though the trout may be smaller...Can't stand the elbow to elbow " combat fishing".........
This is me right now knowing that in less then a day im gunna be pulling in some HUGE rainbows, im almost as excited and i stress almost as opening day for hunting.
well i fished about 3-5 hours not really sure. i caught a little 8-9 incher it was really beautiful but when i got the fly out it just slid out of my hand and didnt get to do a pic. not that many people were actually catching them today. i go after rainbow, brown, and brook here

Opening day for open water started today here also but, alot of ice is still moving in the streams so I will wait another week or 2 and see what happens.
I also rolled a couple of other nice browns in the same size range... No brookies today.... All of my fish were caught on UL spinning gear with crawlers and 6 lb. test... Fish that size strip drag pretty good on UL spin gear...
I'd like to fish the next couple of mornings, but I have family obligations...
Well, I never made it out and I am hoping Thursday or Friday we get a break in the weather up here so I can get my canoe out. I plan on taking it to a large stream way back where there is some nice brookies. It is a early place for fishing and the trout get big for as far as brook fishing goes. It has been snowing up here again and we are supposed to get snow and rain all week![:@]
