Default Use Your Brain; Be careful on the Ice

Fellas, all of us want to get out there ASAP. Here in MI, we have been deprived from ice fishing thus far and I am itching. Don't risk your life on it though. They have alreadyrescued three people from falling around here. Be careful guys, it isn't worth it.

I agree, here we have four to six inches on the smaller lakes and the bigger ones have been wide open. We now have around about 6 inches of snow on the ice so it is even more dangerous. Also a few nuts have put 2 trucks through on one such small lake northwest of here. They have to be some kind of crazy to even think about driving on the ice right now. Oh well, Have to get going and get a few more trout. Good Luck, stay safe, and be carefull!

Thanks for bringing it up. I got out today for the first time this season. I am exactly 4 weeks late due to the lack of ice. I lost a friend last year when his wheeler broke through so I applaud your caution and the effort to warn others.

I went fishing with a friend today and had a lot of fun. But, as we were heading down lake ( walking ) we went by a place my friend wanted to go earlier. As we had snow from a storm day before yesterday and you could see where the water had come up thru the snow. ( This on a small lake as the bigger ones I won't go there.) I had told him not to be so foolish and he got to see why today. Here is what the snow had looked liked today. That is not to mention one spot we walked thru had slush under the snow. That spot was in about 3 feet of water the one in the picture is around 15 feet deep. With news of around 14 inches of snow coming in tommorrow I wonder who will be the first in some of these places? I hope no one will be but, there is always someone willing to try it.
