Default Yep, Jimmy loses "Walter" again....the challenge continues..

Just for the record...Only three times in my life have I ever hooked "Walter" and yesterday was the last time. That's three times in almost 50 years of fishing. Now you have to understand "Walter" is this hugh Brown Trout, that's been around for years and weighs well over 10 pounds.

Sun afternoon I took my spinning rod (haven't used it in a very long time), instead of my fly rod and I was trolling when he hit and he hit it good! This fish just took the tip of the rod a tried to make it touch the water, straight down.

I set the hook hard and I played him about 3-4 min and got him 2/3 way in. I kept telling myself, stay cool, no slack, this is the biggest trout of your life ....After a few minutes, I thought he would begin to get tired and I would slowly bring him into the net. At least that was my plan. He did not break the line, it just went limp (no comment)...

Right after that I caught a beautiful 18in Rainbow that must have weighed about a pound and a half...He was no comparison to the one that "got away"...Oh well, for some reason I was not nearly as disppointed as the two other times. Of course my wife will tell you I "reminded" her that I lost "Walter" about every 1/2 hour yesterday. I did nothing wrong. I honestly think this fish would have weighed 8-10 pounds, easy, maybe more...... It felt like a cod....

CI....That's exactlyhow my wife feels...."If you finally catch him, there's no more challenge". Of course when I said "Challenge This"...she didn't appreciate it....j/k

It may not be another 50 years, but I sure like tryin'! It's good for the soul!..and yes, like 99% of all the trout I catch, he's goin' back!

I practice "Catch and Release" not "Filet and Release"!
