[&:]My wife had never gone fishing and caught a fish. I could tell this was a cause for her not understanding why I enjoy it so much. So I decided to take her on a fishing date. We went out for an evening picnic by little lake then I tied on a Joe's fly set with a weight right at 7inches off and showed her how to cast it. Within 20 minutes she got her first bite. She actually screamed it scared her when it jerked the pole. After that she pulled in two bass and one blue gill. I had to make her stop fishing cause a thunder storm was comming on. As we left she said it was the best time she has ever had on a date. Now she want's to go again. Mission Accomplished!

Congrats bigpapa! Good to hear we hooked another to our side. I did the same w/my wife and she hasn't looked back yet. Now that I've got a new job she gets to fish more than me, she even goes ice fishing w/out me now but is limited to spots where others are fishing as she can't drill her own holes w/our hand auger. Now we have friendly competitions for the biggest and the most fish. I hope you have lined up your next date!, sounds like you may be fishing more now.eh?

Congrats,
Could you post a picture of the exact lure/ fly your using . Are you fishing that with a split shot. I like learning new techniques and have never heard of that but sounds deadly here for our bluegills.

I'm a little slow so please explain in detail. Thanks

Any Joe's Flies will do the trick if set up right. You put on the fly like normal. It's a small fly and won't cast far so I put a split shot on the line about 8 or 9 inches up from the fly. Cast away. Keep the tip of the reel close if not in the water and by moving it right and left you can change the fly's direction. Anywho, throw it out there and reel it in simi slow. The great thing about these Joe's flies spinner bates is how slow you can bring them in. Plenty slow for weary bass or blue's to make up their mind. And yea their dangerous. Btw just funny thing my name is Chuck too.
Good luck,
Big Pappa
