Default Do Old Rangers have collector's value?

I've got one of the very first years of the Rangers? (So I've been told) The old man seemed quite excited about it...Do these things hold a collectors value or did I just happen upon an exciteable Ranger fan?

try to find one comparable to what you have and go from there, i would say that there would be some collectability to them, call ranger, give them the serial number and go from there, i would imagine something like that would be good for places like bps, cabela's or the likes, maybe even someone like BASS could be interested in it, do you know the history of it, who has owned it, i mean ifit was a nice rig like the one billy and bobby murray have it would bring a nice priceat least imo

LOL!!!...well I just found something compareable on Ebay for next to nothing. So apparently there isn't. It may be a year one way or the other but it has the same hull design of the '74, with a much newer 115.

Oh well, looks like I'll either start a project this summer or keep to the shores. The thing runs great, but it's far from being 'up to snuff'.

The biggest value of that boat is use, IF the transome is solid. Ask the old man what its worth to him... if he offers you a good deal, then take it. What motor is on the boat?

Don't know if I'll ever see that guy again. I had the motor in at the local boat shop and they told the old man just went on and on about it. Said they could give me his name if I wanted, I wasn't interested then, and honestly don't know if I would be now. I realize now the original post may have been a little misleading, sorry for that.

Anyway its a Evinrude 115 (somewhere near a 1983). After I redid the carbs myself the thing would start and idle fine and shift into gear fine. BUT in water it wouldn't shift into gear without dying. I tried everything I knew to get the thing to work. But ended up taking it in to get tuned up. It's just a little finicky now...just requires a little special touch from the driver. I can work it fine, but my buddy (who understands engines better than I do) can never get into reverse with killing it....That is until it warms up, then anyone can work the throttle. Don't know how strong it runs compared to other/new 115s but on that 17' fiberglass boat its got all the balls you need and then some. You can literal dump someone out of the front seat if you wanted to, without going wide open![8D]
