Default New rod/reel combo

Whats up guys...i've used spinning rods my whole life but now want to switch to a bait cast reel/rod. I am clueless one what is a good brand and model of casting reel. As of right now im using a quatum spin and ugly stik. What do you reccommend to get? Something reasonable priced.

Dev look through the Bass Pro or Cabelas catalogs or their web sites and you will see a good assortment of rods and reels. I like Shimano, Quantum, Daiwa and Pflueger reels. I mostly use 6'-7' medium/ heavy action rods and like the Bass Pro brands. You can get matched combo sets at a reduced price in both catalogs. Be prepared to use a little heavier line than you do with spin gear to prevent those awful backlashes. Once you get used to the baitcast rigs you will find that for most bass fishing situations they actually work better and are more efficient. I use the spin gear with lite line for all my finesse fishing.

I second Champlains answer. Look in the catalogs, you'll find some great deals. Abu Garcia and Pflueger make some great casting reels. You don't have to spend a fortune to get a quality combo to start out with.

I am a Abu-Garcia man all the way when it comes to Bait Casting reels. Its hard to beat the old 5000. I have a couple that I have been casting for Northerns with for 30 years. Still work like day one.
