Default In your opinion, whats the best spinning reels?

I dont have much of a budget, barely any at all. Im looking for a sub $50 spinner. Right hand. Id like a fairly fast ratio, but not too fast. So, I need a fairly cheap, good spinner, but I dont know the difference between different models or manufacturers.

Walmart has a lot to choose from. I've had great success with Shimano but I've been eye balling the latest abu garcia 4 ball bearings high speed 39.00 .Also the Zebco Cardinal looks and feels sweet.30.00. Shimano isn't bad. I haven't had alot of endurance with Diawa with the cheap reels.

The Mitchel 308X that Walmart sells for about 40.00 is an excellent reel and comes with a spare spool. The Cardnals at Walmart seem good to me as well. I have four of them.

Thanks for the info so far.

Oh yeah, make sure I can get it at either Wal-Mart, Shop-Ko, Bucheitts, or Farm and Home Supply.

I have been in the market for a new spinning reel myself. All of the above mentioned reels are good ones. I have had two old Garcia Cardinals that have served me well for many years, and an old Shakespeare, that is still going strong. Right now I am leaning towards the Shakespeare Tidwater reels. The bearings are all stainless, and that will be a plus to me in salt water!

I've never taken mine apart. I've taken the Diawas apart many times and that's why I'm not recommending them. The reels we mentioned turn smooth and there is no play in the bearings. They are high speed. I've never even broken a bail spring on a Shimano. The trouble is there are so many good ones it's hard to make the final choice.[:-]

I can't stand it any longer .I'm going out and buying one of those reels.I'll charge it for the wife won't know.

I 'm thinking seriously about the Abu Garcia spinning reel. I might get the Cardinal too.
Chuck

1 hour later...bought 2 of the Abu Garcia Cardinals. Talking about smooooth. Man ,awesome reels. I bought a c101 and c103. One for bass and one for bluegill/panfish.Sweet reels.

Lance ,
I've been fishing for 42 years. I just bought 2 Abu Garcias Cardinals at Walmart. They are the nicest spinnning reels I've ever own. the model c103 makes a nice all purpose reel.Doesn't get any better for 30.00. The brake is instant. 6 ball bearings. I'm pumped. Feels like a 100.00 reel.
