Default dangers of fishing

A few days ago i (15) went fishing with my mom and sister(8) we were bank fishing at a bridge at range pond, which is actually a lake, up here in Maine. we look over at our car and some dude is in our car grabbing our stuff. My Mother approached he when he said "i'm robbing you" she told him that he wasn't and to put it back in the car. at this point I was unaware until she yelled my name and i came running. the man dropped the stuff and ran. we get his plate number and the authorities found him. he admitted to everything. sorry if this is boring to you and a waste of a post but it just made me mad and i had to blow off some steam.

P.S. next time i'm wearing my knife

something similar happened to me except I was in my boat, I saw two guys break open my truck tool box I steered my boat towards the bank to try and do something, my 17 lbs thrust trolling motor just didnt get me there fast enough they were gone when i finally got to shore. I didnt get there licsence plate i was still to far to read it when they drove off. The description i gave the police apparently wasnt enough detail because they never caught the guys. They got a fishing rod a tackle box full of tackle, folding chair, log chain, and my antlers from a 11 point buck i got the year before. I was very bummed I know your pain. but you guys confronted the perp bet that was kinda scary get the old adrenaline flowing.

One time we were staying at a motel down by Detroit when we were walleye fishing the Detroit River and at night 5 boats got broken into. We woke up to a state cop at the door. They took out rods, reels tackel, clothing, nets, and everything else they could get their hands on. We were down there for a long weekend and home was 3 hours away so we had to go to Meijers and buy new equipment to keep fishing. They broke the locks on out new Ranger walleye boat too.

Now that I am old enough I carry a concealed weapon just about all the time, even when I am at home. You never know when you may need it. I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Appparently its true for maine that you only have to be 18 to get a CCW permit, but heres the problem LOL its a federal law that you have to be 21 to purchase a handgun. I guess redsox3624 will just have to wear a trench coat and keep a shotgun under if for 3 years.

Thanks for posting. It is quite dangerous at times.

Here's what happened to me in the 80's . Our major park was being used by alot of perverts. I used to be a runner so I would often just fish in my running shorts. Once after I caught a 2 lb bass I noticed a stocky black man checking me out.I felt uncomfortable, got in my chevy truck and drove quite aways on the other side of the park.I then walked about 300 yds through the woods to my other hot spot. I made one long cast with my Rooster tail spinner.Guess who is now about 10 yds in back of me. There was no place to run. Thorns on both sides of me and a gator infested pit in front of me. I just whispered,"God help me."And at the same time reeled in my lure very fast.I turned around slashing my rod in the dudes's face.he went backward and I made it to my truck. For the next 10 years or until my little boys grew up I carried a pistol in my tackle box.

The worst thing that happened at that park was this. Once an old black man and his son were fishing in a 12 ' jon boat.A couple of white guys in a yellow out board were drinking some beers. They drove real close to the jon.The guys in the jon were screaming to please stop. I recon the older fellow could not swim because on the next round of boat rocking the boat flipped. The older man drowned and the boy swam to shore. The sheriff's department spent along time looking for the yelow boat with the split wind shield. They never found it. That was very sad.
