I use:
7' MH casting rod
Cabelas Prodigy
20lb Power Pro or 20lb fireline but I like the Power Pro better
Mr. Twister weighted hook (I think they call them keeper hooks)
Zoom Worm 6" ribbon tail some good colors are black, blueberry, electric blue, red shad, cherry seed, June bug, watermelon, pumpkin seed.
10-15 foot deep weed beds the thicker the better. This setup is very weedless and will pull those 18"+ bass out of the thick weeds all day long. Bass Pro Shops is one of the few places I know of to get the Mr. Twister weighted hooks.
This setup has worked for my dad and I for a number of years now and a few of my friends started fishing this way with good success also.
Good luck fishing.

i've been using 12 lb Berkley XT as my workhorse line this year, i have yet to be disappointed. With 5 mins left to fish ina small tourney, we had 1 fish and were fishing a bridge next to the landing. i caught a 1 lb smallie but it badly frayed my lineon the rocks..i didnt have time so i just chucked the crankbait back out and landeda 3 lb largemouth, with the line all cut and nicked up. however, now that the grass is coming in, im spooling up with 30 lb Power pro, and will have one heavy rod with 50 lb power pro.
Forget what I said about Spider Wire. After flipping for 3 hours the line looked like a giant coil. Can any one suggest a good flipping line that stays straight and the color won't fade?
Thanks Chuck

RE: Favorite Bass Fishing Line For Hawgs
depends what lake, water clarity, technique etc for what line I use. My favorite line is Berkley trilene advanced premium mono photochromic 12 or 14 pound test, when i realized they were gonna stop making it I stock piled the stuff. When I run out I'll probably go back to trilene XL 12 or 14 pound line or perhaps use their photochromic big game line. sometimes I use berkley fire line on the days the bass arent slamming the lures and sensitivity is the key to catching fish. For finesse fishing my favorite line is either 4 or 6 lbs trilene XT but sometimes use 8 or 10 lbs XL or even 10 lbs fire line.

for flipping I cant stand braided lines i usually stick with a limp monofilament like trilene XL in 14 lbs, fire line is pretty good for flipping too. just with the fire line i wouldnt go too heavy 20 lbs test tops. good luck
