Got a question about this rifle, Whats it worth New & how many differant size grain bullets i can shoot threw it ? Need it for Bull elk Size game ......

You could shoot any bullet weight from 110 grain varmint bullets all the way up to 200 grain bullets suitable for elk or even moose. Because of the short case, using the really heavy bullets for that caliber >200gr. tends to have an overall negative impact on performance because the very long bullets encroach on a lot of case volume, which then mandates using much less powder to keep pressures down, and velocity suffers much more than from the simple increase in bullet weight. I'd suggest you use a well built 180grain bullet, which gives the best balance of performance vs. penetration in the short mag cartridges.

I have found the .300 SS SAUM new never been shot for $449.00 and they have several at this special price. I have been told by several that Remington may discontinue this cartridge. Just rumor now. I have been considering purchasing one of these and rechambering it to the .300 WSAM. It would cost $85.00 to do it and allow more factory bullet options, as I don't handload. I bought one of the model 700 300 saum for 449.00 brand new, I figured for that price why not, as far as bullet selection I bought 12 boxes of Remington 180 gr nosler partitons(hard to find in stores) for 22.00 a box, that should hold me for a while. Remington is making 180 & 150 gr Cor lokt ultras

lol Ok Found that Remington as well Threw Gunbroker.com for 4449.00 Thought it wa a great deal Since cheapest I found that model anywhere else was In the mid to high 5's , Tanner sporting goods store is selling them......Ok But I see to get better Bullet selection , to Chamber it to WSAM = Winchester short , but whats AM stand for Ammo Mag ?

I think you're confused between Remingtons .300 SAUM (Short Action Ultra Mag) and Winchesters .300 WSM (Winchester Short Magnum). There is no "A" in the WSM.

If you were to rechamber or rebarrel for .300 WSM, the only benefit to bullet selection would be if you do not handload. I think the big-3 ammo makers all make the WSM's now, but only Remington makes the SAUM cartridges, so not only is factory ammo more available for the .300 WSM, it comes in a much greater variety and is easier to find. However, if you were a handloader, then you'd have the same bullet selection for either because they are both the same very popular .308cal. The only problem I could see in the future is availability of brass if the SAUM's do get discontinued, but if it were me I'd buy about 200-300 pieces of brass now while available, and use 20-50 cases at a time until they wear out. That should provide enough brass to last the life of the rifle, and if you ever do need more and can't get it, then that might be the time to consider a rebarreling.

lol Atad high......Miss quotes Get me all the time.... $449.00 more like it , Ok Understand , thought someone mentioned that gave me feedback on the rifle mentioned Rebarreling to a WSAM which i never heard of, WSSM & WSM yes i heard of, But thanks for the advice On grabbing Brass & holding on to it for future use, Have a good friend that reloads all of his, So can use his Equipment if needed, Always thought Ultra Mag was the way to go In a rifle, But wsm & wssm seems more popular as well as Going to a 308 Caliber.....Will keep all this in mind before purchaseing this rifle, in the near future..
