I put one on my .338 win. and that thing shoots like a baby.....of course the muzzle break helps but there is very little felt recoil. I would compare it to a mild 30-06. I think they are great!

I bought a slip-on Limbsaver for my Handi rifles. The same size (Small) also fits my Browning A-Bolt lightweight stalker in 308. Because of its light weight the A-bolt kicks like a mule. They really work. However for use at the range, the Shooters Friend recoil pad is far better. Its a very soft pad that will slip on over most regular recoil pads. They claim to eliminate 70 percent of felt recoil. They do just that. I found it at Cabelas. It feels like there is a Gel of some kind inside. However I don't think there is. It takes all the pain out of shooting my heavy 45-70 loads off the bench.

I have them on several rifles and shotguns. They work as advertised. Another good one is the Pachmeyer Decelerator.

I think they are more effective then a decelerator. That being said they are also much softer and in certain hunting situations could get hung up on clothing . A good compromise is the Pachmayr Sporting clays decelerator pad with the hard rubber on the top of the pad which keeps the pad from hanging up on clothing.
