260Rem. is a good cartridge, but don't like those short barrels on the Ruger compacts.
They're only 16" or so. I'd rather have a Remington Model 7 in 260. The laminated stock is also better, and the rifle has a 20" barrel - ok.

Oops! Forgot, Remington quit chambering the laminated stock model in 260. But, they
still chamber it in the Rem. Model 7 with synthetic stock, and stainless barrel/action, with
the 20" barrel.
Now, the one I like best is the Rem. 700 LSS Mountain Rifle for a 260Rem. It is stainless
with laminated stock, and 22" barrel. It only approx. 6-1/2lbs. too. I have one in
270Win., and it's been a real good rifle - very accurate too.

Hunt? Generally hunt in Botetourt or Craig county.

Have the Ruger M77in 6.5Swed...22" barrel....... .260 & 6.5 are really close.

The .260 compact will kill hogs and deer also! If you like it, then that's what counts...
