RE: what is your favorite caliber of all time
I wasn't a fan when I was young cause I was into the "bigger and faster must be better" thing. But since owning one for the past 15 years or so I can say with out a doubt that it is the .270 Win.
It is the only true all purpose big game rifle IMHO. Its bullet diameter is small enough for varmints, it excels as a medium big game cartridge, and it is still more than capeable of taking down the largest elk and moose. It shoots as flat as any one would need, factory ammo is available anywhere in the world in weights from 100 grains to 150 grains and if you reload you can get bullets anywhere from 90 to 180 grains.
