Default Benelli Nova

Looking to get one for a good all around shotgun. I like the 3 1/2 chamber.
Good idea???

I hunted for 15 years with a Remington 1100 magnum and bought a Nova 4 years ago for the 3.5" chamber. Have used it almost exclusively (still love the old 1100!) for the last few years and haven't had any problems. Be forewarned though, mine has a 26" barrel and with the 3.5" shells it kicks like a mule.

I tryed 1 .
Gave it back to the owner .
I have 2 problems with them.
1 We hunted in frezzing rain and the Nova froze up and would not work ,My 870 supermag in my freinds hands kept working ( I cleaned the nova before and oil freezing was not the problem).

2 If you ever break the stock how do you replace it ?
Its part of the reciever ,so do you need to buy a new gun??????????
A 870 stock takes just a few min to replace.

I like the Nova because it requires very little maintnence. I leave one in my truck when dog hunting. You can beat it around, trash it, and it will still work perfectly. Many people can't get used to the polymer reciever, but it doesn't bother me. Ive had a 870 express with the matte finish, and I had to wipe it down every day to keep the rust off. You can rag the nova out and it still shoots great.

First, many things could have contriputed to why a gun carried by one person would freeze up and one carried by another wouldn't. There are just too many variables to say that the gun you carried froze because of the gun and not the way you were holding it or the driection of the wind or any number of other possabilities.

Second, the sinthetic stock of the nova cracking is much less likely, if not near impossable, compared to the likely hood of a wood stock of a remingtion, or any other wood stock for that matter, breaking. There is a reason the military has moved in the direction of synthetic stocks, they are durable and last!

Don't get me wrong. I think that Remington, Winchester, and Mossberg all make fine reliable shotguns. They are classics and proven, however, they are all disigns from 40-50 years ago. The nova is as fine a shot gun as any other and it's design is state of the art!

I have used a Nova for a few years now in all weather conditions and I have not had any problems with it. I think it is the best cheap gun for the money. $350 camo. The gun has a 5 year warranty so if the stock breaks send it back. I think it would take quite a bit to break the stock the glass reinforced polymer is very rigid and I have not heard of anyone breaking one. I personally know at least 7 people who own one and they all love them.

He had the gun 2 days . I was considering buying 1 .
He had it back to Benelli 2 or 3 times for problems before they got it fixed, now it seems to be fine.

Synthetic stocks can break , I saw a guy drop his SBE 15' this winter in -12 temps . The stock broke in 3 peices.

We said they were tough, not indestructible. A 15 foot drop isn"™t good for any gun and -12 degrees doesn't help either. How many have you heard of break with normal wear and tear? and I don't believe the SBE has a one piece receiver/stock like the nova. I own Benelli, Browning, and Remington shotguns and for an all around beater that works awesome for waterfowl I like the Nova the best.

most things get very brittle in these kind of conditions

as far as the question, i like rem 870, moss 835, and the benelli. i have used all 3 and own 2 of the 3, and there were things i liked about one and not the other, imo the nova was as good or better than the others

WTF would you expect to happen to a gun after a 15 foot drop. If I dropped any gun 15 foot I would expect to purchase a new one. Of course I have my guns insured.

Thank you Gundigest, my thoughts exactly
