Default 7mm rem mag factory ammo

Just purchased a Tikka 7mm rem mag. Any recommendations for factory ammo that would be effective for both whitetails and elk?

Before I started reloading a few years ago, I always had good luck with Federal Premium ammo. Try the ones loaded with 160 gr. Nosler Partitions.

this shot well in my ruger model 77, i also shot a hornady load with a 154gr. bullet that shot very well. hornady with 139gr. shot the worst, but all rifles are indvidual so it will take some range time. my reloads shot best though

Just because your 7mm Mag. will reach out far - doesn't mean that you should try to shoot animals at long range. Stay within the parameters of distance in which you are FULLY competent to shoot. When I hunted Elk (also with a 7mm Mag.) I ALWAYS kept the range to 300 yds or less (preferably LESS).
good advice and standards, best of luck

I used to use Fed. Premium 165 gr and killed many deer. I decided to get into reloading and found how much more accuracy you get by reloading your own shells. If I had to go back I would get the Fed's though. JDinAB

I agree with the previous posts. I use Fed Premium Ballistic Tip for whitetails and Nosler Partitions for larger game.

I got a better group with the Noslers but the Ballistic Tips shot a 1" at 100 meters and little more than 1 and a half at 200.

Advice: Don't go cheap on the ammo, buy the best you can.....
