870 cantilever shotgun scope best choice?

I have a Simmons 4x pro diamond shotgun scope to mount on the new barrel when I get it but would I be better off getting a full size scope like the Nikon Pro Staff 3x9x40 like I have on my .270 I really like that but I already have the Simmons sitting around?

There is absolutely no reason at all to have a 3-9X scope on any shot gun IMO. The Simmons 4X is by far a better choice for a shot gun.

I have a few shotguns with the cantilever/rifled barrels.....a few mossberg & ithaca pumps all with the bushnell trophy scope 1.5-5, also I have a remington 11-87 that has a leupold 3-9x40 I really like this scope and its added power over the bushnell. I have a knight muzzleloader that has has a nikon buckmaster 3-9x40, love it also.
