im gettin a new rifle for deer. it will be chambered in 7mm rem mag. im either gettin remingtons new cdl or ruger mkII standard. i like the remington from looking at online pictures. any of u guys out there have any experience with these guns. thanks guys

I've got a remington 700 bdl stainless chambered in 7 mag. and like it fine. topped with a leupold 3-9x40 vx2.

I would personally go with the Ruger.Remington's quailty has really slipped. The Ruger comes with the Ruger Rings which saves you allot of money depending what you would choose to buy.The Ruger's triggers need to be reworked. Other then that you get a fine hunting Rifle with a M-77.I have a "All Weather in the 7mm RM.It's a good shooter.

Sometimes, but not always. The 77 that my neighbor picked up not long ago was acceptable right out of the box. On the other hand I redid all three of mine. I would go with a Ruger without hesitation though.

I'm sure a good trigger slips through on occasions on the M-77's. I've gotten a couple that I could live with.Some were really in dire need of help. They can be cleaned up well.A friend lighted some of mine. Now they are around 3-3.5#.

I never found one of the M-77 "ALL WEATHER" in 7mm08.
Like I mentioned to you months ago if your dealer should get another one Please keep me in mind.I'm sure that was a Limited Run which have probably all found a home by now.

I think my dealer said they were made for a certain distributer and only a few were made. I will keep an eye out though. I do know the trigger on my 270 was a pure dog before I worked on it. Once you get them slicked up they are as good a trigger as you can ask for though.

Not to make the decision even harder but if you are considering a Remington you should really take a look at a Howa. They are everything a remington is and a whole lot more.

Same "three rings of steel", push feed, much stronger AR style extractor, one piece machined bolt, flat bottom receiver with intergral recoil lug, timney style trigger.

IMO they are a much better built rifle than a Remington.

I appreciate it Frizzellr, I imagine Davidson's was who contracted Ruger on these. My dealer is a Ruger Gold Label dealer.I'll have to see if he can locate one for me.Not that I need it of course LOL.

After posting this I emailed my dealer about one.If anyone can find one he should.This guy has more connections then Carter had Liver Pills.

I just bought a CDL in 3006 and I really like it. I've killed a doe with it so far this season. It's topped with a Zeiss Conquest 3x9x40 scope in Leupold rings and bases. Shooting Federal Premium 150 grain Ballistic Tips I'm getting 1 to 1.5 inch groups if I do my part. My doe never took a step after the shot.She was about 100 yards out. The Ballistic Tip left a 30 cal. hole in the near shoulder and a fist size hole in the off side shoulder. Buy The CDL if it fits you and feels good, after all you'll shoot better if one fits and feels right. Try several brands for fit and feel and get the one thats right for you. Rem, Ruger, Winchester, Browning, Tikka all make good rifles.

Either one would be fine, go to a really good gun shop where you can hold SEVERAL different brands hold em all for several minuetes and see what fits you best.
