22 magnum

I have a 10/22 and have had other 22's in the past, but have never used a magnum. Our walmart has one (Marlin or Savage...don't remember) on clearance for $89!! Thought about picking one up, but don't know much about one. Looking for something to pop a few coyotes this winter. We usually call them in and shoot with a shotgun, so range is usually 40 yards and under. Will a 22 mag do the job at that range?

Absolutely!!! BUT, pick your shots.!!

A side shot in the ribs with a hp will kill them, as will a hit in the head.

You DO have to pick your shots for clean kills though!

Good choice, I have a Marlin model 25MN and love it. It is accurate and reliable. I have shot everything from chipmunks to turkeys with it. I use the CCI Maxi-Mag hollow points and during trapping season I used the CCI FMJ.
