Default which 3 1/2 inch shotgun to get

I want an affordable shotgun for turkey that will handle the 3 1/2 inch magnum. I dont have the money for a browning gold or a remington 11-87 right now. I was thinking of a pump or a cheaper semi.

Whatever you don't buy a cheap semi !!!!! Go with a pump, I have for years the Mossberg 835 a very reliable firearm, I've had no problems at all. Not sure what I paid for it, but I did buy the combo: barrel with 3 or 4 chokes including extra full turkey, and a rifled/cantilever barrel for deer. With Lightfield 3-1/2" slugs, this gun groups excellent. I don't use it for deer hunting anymore, it's heavy and thats the only downside.

I have a Remington 870 12 ga. 2 3/4 - 3 1/2. I love it. It only came with one choke, but chokes are pretty cheap. I think I paid around $225 for it a few years ago. Never had any problems with it. I also have a 20ga. 870 that I have had since I was nine. That's my favorite gun. I have had it now for 23 years. No problems. Best Christmas present my parents ever gave me.

My current turkey gun is the Browning BPS 3.5" 12 ga. Shooting 3.5" HeviShot loads from Nitro and a Rhino choke it is easily a 50 yard gun. Browning is offering a $75 rebate on all 3.5" BPS shotguns(direct from Browning) until November 30. This is on top of the best deal you can talk the dealer in to.

I would go witht eh browning Bps, there very cycling firearm. they have 2 action slides ( not realy sure what they'er called i thik thats it.) but scince it has 2 they wont bend. some of the cheaper pumps only have 1 and they will bend so you gotta take some time to bend them back straight.

Personally, I'll be getting a Mossberg 935 very soon. In the couple years they've been out, they've been proven to be VERY reliable....#2 choice would be Bakail MP153...not pretty, but a real workhorse

hell you usually don't need a second shot with turkeys, if i were you with the budget, i'd buy a nice camo single shot. we have one, and the thing was cheap, and has worked very well (although the thing kicks like a mule, cuz it's so light)

I would go with a Remington 870 Supermag express. I got one last year and have really liked it. I mainly use mine for predator and waterfowl hunting. I use a patternmaster choke tube on mine and have excellent groups with larger steel, buckshot, and the new heavy shot. I have just always liked the remingtons over the mossbergs.
