I have been looking at rifles for the past 5 months or so trying to figure out my next purchase. I have my eye on a Remington 700 Sendero SF 300 Rem Ultra Mag. I really like the speed of the caliber and the look and the weight of the sendero. I was just wandering if anyone owns or has fired this rifle and what they like or dislike about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.[&:][font="Courier New"]
I have fired senderos in several chamberings and all offered above average accuracy. As far as the 300ultramag goes ,I own two and am very happy with them but to be honest they offer little over the 300 win mag at distances less than 300 to 400 yards. They also have shorter barrel lives and recoil significantly more.If you don't handload they really offer little over the 300 win mag at any distance because factory loads are extremely mild.Unless you are a much better than average shot and intend on practising a great deal at distances out to 400 yards or more you would be far better off with a 300 win mag.
Thanx for the info. I will take it into consideration. The more I think about it I probably will go with the 300 win mag. I plan on doing my own reloading with my father, but on the other hand I don't feel the need to be blasted out of my treestand with the 300 ultra mag.
I own a Remingto Sendero SF that is chambered in 7mm-STW. I love the way my rifle shoots. If you hike for miles & miles every day you hunt, the Sendero might not be the best choice? They sure seem to shoot great straight out of the box.
Good luck
