Remington model 7 youth or Ruger Mark 2 compact?

I am looking at either getting a Remington Model 7 youth 243 or a Ruger Mark 2 compact 243. They are both nice guns and the prices are fairly close. Which one do u guys like better?

The Ruger Compact would be my choice.Ruger's are quality through and through. The way Remington's quality has slipped in recent years there would be no question in my mind which one I would choose.Look them both over and decide which you like & feels best to you..

Personally I feel Ruger just makes a better firearm than Remington. It would have been hard to get me to say that 20 years ago, but the quality at Remington sure has gone down. Those Ruger 77 Compacts would be a perfect treestand rifle or woods rifle.

I prefer the model 7.Although I have a standard not a youth model.I also prefer the 7 mm08 over the 243.

I have two model sevens but i bought a youth in a 700. the 700 will out shoot the sevens!
i like the ruger compact it's a good looking gun. i just have enough short barreled guns so i wouldnt get one.
but if i was looking NOW i would go with the ruger.
