Default SCOPE FOR YOUTH GUN

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST SCOPE TO PUT ON A REMINGTON MODEL SEVEN 7mm-08 FOR DEER HUNTING WITH SHOTS UP TO A MAX OF ABOUT 175-200 YARDS? THE BARREL LENGTH IS 20" WITH AN OVERALL LENGTH OF 38 1/4".

Well each to his own. I don't know what you have in mind to spend. I can tell you my expierence and you can take it from there. I like a 2X7x40 or something in that area. I don't have a lot of faith in cheap variable power scopes but have had good luck with a few of the low cost fixed power scopes such as the Taco pronghorn. Its tough. I have a few of the 4X and they have held up for several years and stay right on the money. I would trust the Simmons Pro Hunter or Pro-50 or better even in a variable. The Bushnell Banner, Trophy and 3200 are pretty good scopes. These will run from 90.00 to 200.00 dollars with the 3200 being the best quality. The Simmons ones I mentioned run from 55.00 to 100.00. Going up another step, the swift will run about 100-120 in a 3x9 and have done real well by me on my 280. Any of the Luepolds will do very well. They start at about 180.00 for the 2x7 Rifleman to many hundreds of dollars for the more top of the line ones. I paid about 66.00 including shipping just a while back for a Simmons pro-hunter 6X40 scope. This one is impressive. Got it from Natchez. Hope this helps. I have never in many years had a failure with any of the scopes I mentioned above.

One other real good scope is the Simmons Aetec is a top flight scope with 5 inches of eye reliefe and clarity that you have to see. Midway USA has them on sale 129.00.

On my son's 700 youth i put a simmons 44 mag. and honestly have been very happy with it. the aetecs are a good scope for the money.
my son dropped the gun once and i was very glad i had a low dollar scope on it. the thing held it's mark and is still going.

Bushnell elite 3200 in 3-9X would be a great scope for any one. One piece tube, clear optics, Rain guard coating, lifetime "bullet proof" warranty. You can get them on e-bay for about $170.00 new in the box.

My choice - a Burris or Leupold Compact model in either 2-7X or 3-9X. And that's only cause I cant afford one of the relly expensive models like Swavorski or Zeiss.

I've got a Nikon Monarch UCC 2-7x32 on my model 7 and it's a great scope for the gun. Very lightweight, but still durable. I shot my 7mm08 at 200yards the other day with no problem at all.

Also, look at Winchester Fail Safe's for this gun, great bullets for deer and very accurate.
