rem 1100 3"??

i was wonderin if any of yall kno would i be able to put a 3" magnum barrel on my 1100 because as of right now all i can shoot is 2 3/4" shells n they wont get the job done... im pretty sure that i could do it because i had a buddy of mine accidently fire a 3" through it but i just wanted to get a few opinions before i did this

I had inquired about getting a 3" chambered barrel for my uncles 2-3/4" Rem. Wing master and the guy at the sporting good store told me at the time that the problem would be the action that couldn't use 3" shells. I know it"™s not the same gun but it"™s the same make . Check with a local gun smith before purchasing the barrel

Yes, the 3" 870 barrels can be used with the 2Â¾" receivers with 2Â¾" shells, but I can't find anything on the 1100. Like trailer said, check with a gunsmith or reputable dealer.

ok if I am understanding you correctly you have a 1100 that is chambered for 2 3/4" shells correct. YOU are wanting to know if you take a 3" barrell and place on your gun will you be able to shoot 3" loads? Well I know all of the information I have seen has said that yes you can put the 3" barrel into that reciever (except certain models- go to remingtons website for more information) but you can still only shoot 2 3/4" shells. Just passing along what I have read. If you want a 3" or even a 3 1/2" gun and woudl like ot sell yor 1100 then let me know lol I am always looking for more guns to have a reason to buy another cabinet for LOL. I hope this might help. NO. The reciever on 2 3/4' and 3' mod 1100 are different lengths, the barrels are not interchangeable. To shoot 3" you have to have a 3" reciever and a 3" chamber in the barrel. The newer 1187 has interchangable barrels for 2 3/4 and 3". As far as your friend accidentaly shooting a 3" in a 2 3/4 " gun , that is a serious no no. The gun could blow up in his face. Don't do it!
One option that you might try is to take your 2 3/4 " barrel to a gunsmith and have the chamber cut to 3". this would solve any high pressure issues with a 3" shell, but it might not feed or eject correctly due to the extra length of the shell. I did this with my B-2000 it was cheaper than getting a new barrel.It works great.

The one thing I'm sure of is that your 2 3/4" 1100 will not function as a 3" no matter which barrel you put on it. That's why they make two different models. I own both and the only difference I see is that the 2 3/4" barrels have two gas ports and the 3" barrels only require one based on light and heavy load pressures. I'm not positive, but I think the recoil spring is the same in both models and everything is controled by the gas ports. I beleive the main difference in the receivers is where the extractor is located, but like most guys have said "your local gunsmith can elaborate on all of this if he's worth his salt".
