Apples to oranges. We both know 312 is looking for a 3.5" scattergun, so why bring up the model 500?Is that now availabe in 3.5" also??
Canadian Hunter, see now what I mean about the green fog????
I looked into the short barrel[24" ] for waterfowl question and so far 17 out of 18 have informed me that the extra couple inches make no real difference in pattern. Most say they prefer 24" over 26" or 28" due to quicker handling, one drawback is a louder boom

Before you buy, find someone that has an 835 and try it out if you can. Then find someone that has an 870 and do the same thing. Everyone has an opinion as you can see with plainman. You should make your own.

smitty id love to do that but bein only 18 i dont know many ppl that hunt besides my dad, grandpa and uncle....newest guns they each have r a nova, berreta, and a browning 10g i think....
but i think if i can find a dealer in southwestern ontario then ill get the 835 combo cuz for like an xtra $50-$75 i can have ported barrel, overbored, drilled and tapped and camo(altho its ugly its better then none i guess)
on the mossberg website it shows the 835 combo with a dual-comb on the stock and a cantilever barrel.....is this standard on all 835 combos or do u have to order them xtra?
Dual comb stock is an option, the barrel that comes with that stock has scope mount. The plain stock comes with barrel that uses fiber optic sights. You' ll have to specify wich combo you want. I hear Camoclad does a fine job of covering up those ugly paintjobs.

can anyone tell me sum groups that ya' ll get with this gun with the rifled barrel?
also, when hunting i want to use the best 3" slugs for deer....but at like $15 a box i dont wanna be shootin them for when im sighting in my gun. is there any cheaper slug that shoots pretty close to a high quality slug so i can use the cheap ones to sight in and only have to take a few shots with the good ones to be dead on?
and do those new remi buckhammer slugs foul up the rifling in rifled barrels? on the site it says they make good groups at 100yards with a rifled barrel but the pic shows no sabot.
wut r the most accurate slugs that u can get in most gun shops? (eg winchester, remington or federal?)
and another thing.... wut is the best buckshot to use for deer that gives the best pattern?

Hey there... I have a Rem 870 express 12GA, and I love it! [:-] I haven' t run slugs through it yet, but then, I don' t have a rifled barrel (yet). But I will say the ultimate of all lethal shot pattern is #00 Buck out of a full choke tube. Whatever the target, consider it down for the count! [:-]
