which brand of rifle to buy?

Question;

I am going to buy a .308 in one of the following rifles.

Winchester Model 70.....$399.00

Remington Model 700....$380.00

Savage Model 110....$370.00

All of these rifles have synthetic stocks and are at the local Wally store.

Which one would you buy?

Well, the Remington is an ADL for that price and I' ve never liked blind magazines.

The Winchester is a great firearm.

Of those you list, I' d probably go with the Savage. Take it to a good ' smith and get the trigger adjusted and you' ll have a pretty fine, accurate firearm.

Out of that lineup I would choose the Savage unless your Walmart has a nice Rem 710 laying around...that is about the sweetest rifle made out there for the price...can' t get any better.

Hey old elk hunter, is that model 710 fall in the same price range?

Its cheaper than anything you mentioned but I wouldn' t use it for a tomato stake(reserved for remington 742' s) .SJ knew I was being a bit sarcastic but seriously out of the bunch the Savage and Remington 700 would be my pick.

oldelkhunter-While you are on the topic of nicknames for rifles the model 94 is known locally as a canoe paddle due to it' s size and shape.The .303 lee enfields are known as crowbars or doorprops.Many belive both are more suited for these uses than as hunting guns.As for a choice of a cheap bolt rifle I like the 700 action but hate blind magazines.I would choose a howa rifle as they are well made for a reasonable price.

Go for the Remington 700. Great gun for the money and you won' t regret it. I' m shooting the exact same in .308.
