Default Savage Striker in 300 WSM--Good Idea or Not

I see that savage is offering their striker series in a 300 WSM chambering. I was wondering what sort of velocity (150-168gr) you could expect in a 14" barrel in this caliber. Anyone have an Encore in 300 WM or the Striker in 300 WSM that could give me an idea of velocity and recoil vs. say a .308 Win?

Isn' t the Striker a single action handgun? If it is, I' m not man enough to shoot it in 300 wsm. That' s why I suggested the helmet.

It is indeed a single shot pistol with a muzzlebreak. I imagine with that short barrel, muzzlebreak, and a 300wsm combined its gonna have some nasty muzzleblast. I seen an article several months ago where a guy wrote up on it in some gun rag.

That would have to be one heck of a thumper in that caliber in a pistol!! And with that muzzel break, it would sure shatter your ear drums as well!!! From what I hear those WSM cartridge' s are the cat' s PJ' s!! I never shot a striker so I couldn' t tell you, but I would think that you' d almost have to be set-up in a treestand or ground blind with a solid rest. That' s a large " handgun" , and I would have to say forget about taking a off hand shot!!

SAVAGE STRIKER IS AN EXCELLENT HANDGUN--YES HANDGUN, AS IT DOES NOT
HAVE A SHOULDER STOCK. WHILE I DO NOT OWN A 300 WSM I DO OWN THREE STRIKERS, TWO IN CENTERFIRE CALIBERS. SHOOTING WITH MUZZLE BREAK ON WITHOUT SOME TYPE OF HEARING PROTECTION WILL CAUSE RINGING IN YOUR EARS, NOT SO MUCH FROM THE BREAK BUT THE FACT THE BARREL IS ONLY 12" AWAY FROM YOU AS OPPOSED TO A RIFLE' S 20" OR SO. I HAVE A RUGER RIFLE WITH A BREAK AND CAN SHOOT THE W/O HEARING PROTECTION (LIKE WHEN HUNTING) W/O PROBLEM BUT STRIKER ALWAYS IS A PROBLEM.

ALSO STRIKER IS NOT A SINGLE SHOT HANDGUN---DEPENDING ON CALIBER IT IS A 2-3 SHOT LEFT HANDED BOLT, RIGHT HAND EJECT GUN BASED ON SAVAGE MODEL 110 RIFLE ACTION. 300 WSM IS A TWO SHOT FOR AN EXAMPLE AND MY 7mm-08 IS A THREE SHOT.

FWIW IMHO

ILIKESTRIKERS, I have been eyeballing the striker line up for a while.
Would you recommend the model with or without the muzzle break?

The two calibers I am considering are the 7mm-08 and the .308, any recommendations there?
And do they have a regular safety like a rifles safety?
