REMINGTON 74 SPORTSMAN .30-06 QUESTION

HOW GOOD OR BAD IS THE REMINGTON 74 SPORTSMAN .30-06?, WHAT IS IT WORTH? I' LL BE USING IT FOR DEER HUNTING ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR, AND ITS BEING GIVEN TO ME FREE WITH A 3-9x40 OLDER REDFEILD, WHICH I WOULD MOST LIKEY CHANGE. GUN IS IN BETTER THEN GOOD SHAPE.

I have had a model 74 Sportsman 30.06 since 1985. It has always performed flawlessly for me. Just keep it clean, shoot quality ammo and don' t tighten forearm screw after sighting in. I know others have had problems with 7400' s but I have had no prob' s with mine. Good luck!
