Yes, a rifled slug has a bore diameter larger than a sabot slug of the same shotgun gauge. A sabot houses the slug. How much smaller the diameter is depends on the slug design. Here are some links that may be helpful.

The sabot encases the slug, so the slug is less than full bore diameter. Hybrid type slugs and rifled slugs are full bore diameter.

A sabot (pronounced /ˈseɪboʊ/ SAY-boh or /ˈsæboʊ/ SAB-oh) (French for clog) is a device used in a firearm or cannon to fire a projectile, such as a bullet, that is smaller than the bore diameter, or which must be held in a precise position.

even sabot slugs are various sizes. Sabots come in various sizes from .6" to down to .5" for a 12ga. A rifled slug can be full bore sized.

Also, the largest sabot slug I know of is the Remington Premier Accutip at 385 grains (12 ga). The Hornady SST is 300 grains. The Remington Rifled Slugs are 1 oz, or 437.5 grains. I would love to take a deer with one of those. But as my luck would have it, I'd only see deer way out of rifled slug range.

Actually those 385's and 300gr are the smallest or on the small side.

Most sabot'd slugs are 1 oz like my copper solids which is 437gr, or lightfields which are 500gr or so.

I am reloading for lyman 1 1/4oz slug saboted in a WAA12 wad.

Hmmmm...I wonder where I got that. Maybe the Premier Accutip is the largest jacketed sabot slug. I assume the Copper Solids are...solid cooper.
