Default Tikka Long Action VS. Short Action

Is the receiver shorter or did they just put a spacer in the mag for?

Space for sure, but I think that they also shorten the bolt throw somehow.

The Tikka T3 action is one length (long). To accommodate the short action cartridges they put a block in the magazine. They also reposition the bolt stop to shorten the stroke of the bolt to give it a short action feel.

X2! I don't care for anything in "one size fits all!"
Cheaper to produce = just plain cheap!

Actually, if I remember right, the action is extra long! That way it can be converted from magnum, long and short action. I love short action calibers, so why would I want to defeat the purpose with a mag-length action! Tikka's cost cutting is really just extra profit, because they are still over priced!

I've had (and sold) three Tikkas. That's enough.

Thumbs up

I have a Tikka T3 lite in a .308. best shooting rifle I ever shot, and most accurate too in a hunting rifle. To each his own I guess.
