Default new marlin 270 camo

This gun has cought my eye for deer hunting. If any one has one, I would like to know how they like it. Im having a hard time finding one near by. Its a toss up between marlin and the savage, both are nice guns.

Thumbs up

I have a Marlin XL7 (black stock) in 30-06 Spfd. that will put 3 Sierra 165gr BTHP Gamekings into less than 1" groups @ 100 yards, when loaded with 58.0 grains of IMR-4350!

The trigger on this rifle is EXCELLENT. The only complaint I have is the rifle has a rough bore and fouls with copper rather easily. In time, after I get a few rounds down the bore, it should smooth out.

You'll love that Marlin! Every review I've read about them has been very favorable.

For the record, Savage are my favorite rifles!!!

I purchased a Marlin XL7 in .243 for my daughter this weekend. I thought about any number of other guns but I picked this up at the shop and it felt pretty good and the price was right. Haven't fired it yet so I couldn't say. I hope to get out next weekend and test drive it a little.

My buddy bought a Marlin XL7 in .243 for his wife and you can't get it away from her. The gun is inexpensive and shoots really good. If you are looking for a rifle that you don't have to spend a fortune on either one will be a good choice.

I thought the 243 was the XS-7? I thought the smallest the XL-7 came in was a 25-06. Or have they changed it? Aren't they very similar guns though too? Anyone know the differences? Either way I hear they are great guns for a great price. Have an awesome reputation for great accuracy.

You are right it looks like the XS7 is just chambered for the shorter calibers.
