I don't know about pheasants, but I have a 1100 that I bought new in 1974 that I have shot duck, geese, dove, quail, squirrel, and rabbits with and now it it relegated to turkey duty. It still functions great and I put a new barrell on it ten years ago...not because I had to, because I wanted to change out chokes.

I don't know much about Hastings barrells but I have never heard anything bad about them. I think they are probably a little better than the factory bbls.

What's the deal with tha bbl? I hate to ask but I don't know you -is it a slug barrel? I had an 1100 that I shot a lot of birds (read pheasants) with, but I honestly did not know of any aftermarket barrels for it that werent slug barrels. Does the barrel have any markings indicating the choke on it? Until very late season in some states I always use the improved, but occasionally I use mod or even very rarely Imp Mod. for birds. AFAIK any bbl will be the same on a shotgun if it has the same length chamber and the same choke. And to be clear, when I say they are all the same I am NOT any kind of competitive shooter... Just a bird hunter.

I guess I didn't completly read the "wadlock barrel" but I still don't know what it means... Still I think the most important aspect of the bbl is the specs (choke). The 1100 is a great pheasant gun.

Learn how to disassemble it and keep it clean. It will work like a charm. Ron
