Default How can i tell if i have rust in my barrel?

I recently neglected my rifle in its case for about 7 days in my room. When i whent to shoot it it was all rusted inside the action (on the shell ejecter) and up towads my barrel. This has never happened to me i always take care of my guns. I relized the cold nights and hot days were what happened (Im a idiot). Anyway i find it hard to believe i dont have rust in my barrel but from what i can manage to see there is none. When i run a patch down with solvent no rust color comes out. But how can i know for sure.

A patch with some Kroil on it will bring out any rust. In the course of 7 days it is doubtful you would have serious etched in rust problems. A light dusting of flash rust is not harmful to any serious degree and usually quite easy to get rid of.
I live in an arrid climate where things seldom rust much so this is only my experience from here.
