Default CCI pistol shotshells

While visiting my mother over the Labor Day holiday, I just happened to notice a nice little snake crawling behind her front porches first step...my mother is terrified of snakes.

Gave me a perfect reason to really try out the CCI shotshells in my Colt .45 Auto...ran the snake about 10 feet out from the porch while loading a spare magazine with the shotshells...snake raised its head up to look around...so I pointed and shot...BANG.

The hole in the ground where the snake's head was was about 4 inches in diameter and 3 inches deep. The snake did not even twitch...I was very impressed. Very bad news for the snake.

Of course the recoil impulse was insufficient to fully articulate the slide and the casing caught on the ejection port...but a simple clearing drill not only fixed that issue but chambered a new round just in case...

Nice to know. I always wondered if the recoil would cycle another round.
I just bought a box for my 357 mag revolver instead

My dad has taken grouse with them in his 357 revolver a couple of times. I do know that some autos aren't approved for the shotshell loads though.

I was impressed as well. I always carry my .40S&W when backpacking anyway, so I loaded it with a couple CCI shotshells in grouse country. Met a few "stupid chickens" on the hike up and had grouse for dinner in camp.

Btw, they cycle fine in my CZ 40-P.
