Default marlin xl-7 new gun

Got the gun sat., scope sun, rings had in my hardware box. bought a box of rem. corelokts 130 gr. took 5 bullets togroup 2shot string in the red( bullseye) at 50 yards. Nice shooter the trigger pull is a little longer pull than a timney trigger but was not sloppy. Overall I think I have a real shooter here when I get her broke in and start reloading for her. xl-7 .270 win., nikon prostaff 3-9x40 nikoplex.
I give the gun a thumbs up so far.

I was under the impression the triggers were similar to savage accutriggers ,which are user adjustable, if it is, you could probably get it down to a nice crisp 2-3lbs.

Let us know if it's a shooter. My sonhasbeen thinking of geeting one in a short action caliber, either a 308 or 7mm-08 but would like to hear how they actually shoot 1st.

I bought 1 (.270) for a gift to a buddy & was so impressed I want 1 in 7mm08 for a beater/loaner gun. The 1 I bought him will group about 5/8" at 100 yards, with other loads hovering around 7/8".

Pretty impressive for a inexpensive rifle. Looks like Marlin might have a winner on their hands

You're not going to believe it but the cheap Federal blue box Power-Shok 130 gr is what shot 1/2-11/16" groups. It averaged 5/8" groups based on several groups averaged out.I didn't base it on just 1 group.

Mine had better accuracy than my M70. Very pleased with my XL7. I just hope they keep it priced right and they will sells lots.

I have one in 25-06 and have tried 4 different types of ammo thus far @ 100 yards. The accuracy matches a gun twice the price.
1. Winch Pos Exp Point-120 gr 5 shot group = 0.80"
2. Rem Core Lokt - 120 gr 5 shot group = 0.57"
3. Rem Core Lokt - 100 gr 5 shot group = 0.83"
4. Hornady Interlock BTSP 117 gr 5 shot group = 1.60"

I need more data points and will focus on the Remammo. I also picked up some Sierra GK 117 gr andHornadyV-Maxfor reloading but haven't had a chance to work up a load with H4831,H4350 or Varget.

Summary: Best gun purchase I ever made! Thinking about one in a 308 now but have the A-Bolt/X-Bolt fever at the moment.
