Default CZ SXS Bobwhite in 20 or 28 gauge

Any thoughts on this side by side. I am considering a 20/28 gauge with 26" barrels for grouse and phesant.

Scott its obvious that the 12 and 20 gauges are the most popular here in the states. But more than one shotgun 'expert' has stated the effectiveness of the almost extinct 16 ga and the petite 28 gauge. I believe it has something to do with the shot column length to bore ratio.
For sure the 12 is the most versitile. But of the 2 gauges I personally would really like to get a 28 gauge.Especially in a SxS. I bet it would be a smooth, well balanced piece. The only thing is that when you go hunting be sure to take enough ammo with you. Most places will have 20 ga shells but not many will have 28 ga. Good luck.

Scott.......I don't own a CZ, but I do own an IGA (Brazil) 28 ga. double. I absolutely love that little gun. The first time I had it in the woods, I killed a grouse with the first shot. Like bronko said, ammo can sometimes be a little on the scarce side, but if you are aware of that and correct for it, you shouldn't be sorry.
I definitely give the 28 SxS a thumbs up..............Don.

Bad news on the 28 gauge CZ. I had the gun in hand and was seeing how it shouldered when I noticed the beed was slightly tilted to the right. I checked the bead and it was not cross threaded. After looking again I found the right barrel was lower than the left and I mean quite a bit lower. Needless to say I passed on the gun. What a disappointment it was on sale at a Sportsmans Warehouse store closing sale for $660.00. They did have another one that was identical to the first but I looked like the right barrel on that one was also just slightly lower. I placed the bottom of thebarrel from the forend to the muzzle on the counter and checked them for square and found one to be way off and the other to be slightly off. They sure looked good though.

Man that is a real shame. Wonder what happened to them. I thought CZ built a quality firearm?

............Now that just plain sucks. Period. Like bronko, I'm really surprised at that. I would have thought that CZ should have better QC.. The 28's are such a sweet gun.............

I like 20 gauge in SXS's for hunting in tight cover.

Here is what I went with after looking at CZ and many others,

It turns out the gun is actually made by Huglu in Turkey for CZ. It is not a CZ manufactured firearm. I read a bunch of posts on shotgunworld and you hate them or love them but QC is very poor.

I am going to look into that Marlin Double. It looked ok but I justprefer the english stocks.

PAWildman,

Here is a site I like for an up close and personal look, but you can do better in terms of price.

Hope this helps.
