The Ruger would be my choice.I have a early production 20 ga.Really a nice shotgun.I just wish it had the screw in chokes that came out in later years. Mine is choked SkxSk.If there should ever be a problem Ruger will stand behind their products.Parts are always available if needed. To me that means allot.I always wanted a Browning Citori but never did.If the Ruger fits you ,I would say go for it.I think you would be more then satisfied with the quality and performance.Hopefully one day I' ll break down and buy a RL in 12ga.Watch www.gunsamerica.com there are many listed NIB at reasonable prices.

Out of the two I wouldn' t hesitate to go for the Ruger. They' ll firmly stand behind their product with great warranty service. Who' s gonna work on that Franchi?

But listen close to DG, couple more bucks will put you firmly in heaven with a Browning Citori.

Back when I did a lot of competition shooting I too saw a lot of Ruger shoot themselves loose. I have no experience with Franchi Alicone so I can' t comment with any kind of authority. Any competition gun made by Beretta or Browning will serve you well. If you think either of those are expensive check out the price tag on the Kreighoffs and Perazzis!

I would reccommend the Ruger. I have two of them, one in 20 and one in 12. They fit me. I tried the B guns and neither fit me or shot as well for me as the Red Label. IMO the B guns are way overpriced. I' ve had my Rugers for 10 years and neither one is loose and the stainless receiver doesn' t have any stain marks. As far as the chambers rusting, take care of the gun and it won' t be a problem. I haven' t had any trouble with either of mine.

My friend has the whole collection of the Red Labels. We use them constantly for skeet shooting. They have all had uncountable shots through them (especially the 20 and 28) and they are still exactly like the day they were purchased.

An excellent gun.
