Excellent caliber, dont know about the gun though, probably more reliable than say, a remington 750. Good luck.

Put your fears at ease, the shortrac are good rifles.

I have one in .308 that will shoot MOA of angle if I do my part. I have never experienced any failures and have taken several deer with it.

Aesthetically, I prefer the BAR Safari, but I'm sure that the Short-Trac is a great rifle. I considered getting a BAR Safari for awhile, but decided I just couldn't give up the trigger of a bolt-action for the somewhat heavy, creepy and complicated trigger. They are expensive to have reworked, if you can find a gunsmith that will even do it because of liability. I'm not saying the BAR will have a terrible trigger, but it's never going to be as light and crisp as a good bolt-action trigger can be, and still be safe and reliable. I guess I'm just more of a bolt gun guy.

I bought a new shotrac last fall in 270wsm .
Very accurate and nice quality rifle .
I,m shooting the fusion ammo and have no regets what so ever .
I was looking at the winchester or Browning .
I now have 2 Brownings , the other is a A-bolt classic in 300wsm . super accurate rifle with factory ammo ..You will luv it ,,
