Savage MK II .22 LR

Well, I didn't see a review on this gun, so I thought I'd write one. First off I just want to say it's a great little gun for the money. I got mine at Wal-Mart for 115$, and then paid 30$ for a generic 4x BSA Scope. It's a bolt action, and comes with a 10 round magazine. Once I got this baby sighted I had groupings that were basically overlapping at 50 yds. It's extremely accurate for the money, and after adjusting to the scope I was able to hit cans at 100yds 9/10 times (It was really windy). One thing I like about the gun is that it isn't really particular about ammo. I bought every type of ammo Wal-Mart and Dick's had in stock to see which one I like best, and they all shot very well, but the ones I found to be MOST accurate and consistent were CCI Minimags, minimag hp's, and Velocitors. Though, as stated, everything I shot had pretty consistent groupings. Overall I think it was a great deal, and am more than happy with it.

They are a nice rifle. Not fancy but accurate and dependable.

I got the BV version (laminate, bull barell) to approximate the length/weight of my hunting rifle. Best $245 I've ever spent on a rifle. It's probably the most accurate rifle I own, and its favorite food is the Federal Champion blue box 40g stuff ($1.47 / 50 rounds!).

Yeah, I really love mine. Sadly mine is pre accutrigger, which surprised me, but it still shoots great.

Yep, I have mine for a few years and it's a shooter. Heavy barrel, no sights with a 6-24x50 setin on top.

My old MKII has been the most accurate .22 I've ever had. It's old and beat-up, but just shoots great. Only complaint is that the trigger pull is a bit heavy (pre-accutrigger). But still accurate enough to make head shots on starlings/crows at 40 yards and head shots on groundhogs at 70 yards. Mine likes Winchester Power-Point 40 grain hollow points- which I have used for hunting, but the most accurate was RWS subsonic hollowpoints- dime-sized groups at 40 yards.

That's an absolutely beautiful gun. I love the wood stocks, but cheap was what I had in mind.

Oldsmellhound, I agree with the heavy trigger pull, mine is the same way. When I switch from my .17 HMR to the Savage at the range it actually kinda freaks me out how much harder I have to pull, but it's so accurate I forget after a couple rounds. Anybody know where to get some extra magazines for this thing? I can't find them anywhere but the internet.
