It wouldn' t be a shotgun. It would be the single shot .22 I had as a kid, which I shot hundreds of squirrels with up at my uncle Gerhard' s and aunt Ing' s farm over many years. I could consitently shoot them from the leaning up on a tree from 50 yards away off the corn crib with the fine iron sites on it.
The biggest challenge was to keep the big Collie dog, " King" , in the house until I got the first shot off. He was a great squirrel hunting companion. He' d go around the other side of the big Oak trees the other grey and fox squirrels at the top would come around my side to get away from " King" . Bingo, there' s another one.
Sorry for getting off topic. I couldn' t resist thinking outloud about those good times.
