Default Remington 597 magnum .17 hmr

I just bought a .17 hmr from my uncle after I used it, it's a remington .17 hmr mag. auto, when I shot it the first round fired, and while it reloaded the bullet didn't go into the chamber, got stuck below the chamber and the bullet fired when the reciever hit it, the reciever ejector broke and the pin to pull it back, my uncle said it was the second time it happened, so I bought it cause I broke it, I guess the same thing happened to him, the pin went straight for my temple and gave me a cut even I had a hat on, felt like a big punch from some one, so what can I do about this rifle if it's going to be happening like this??? I want it fixed cause I like the rifle. please e-mail me with something at sno_60@yahoo.com

My dad has the exact same gun. First time we went to the range with his it would fire the first round and the second would get bent in half. The round never fired like yours did. but it happened a few times till i gave hime my clip. He had one of the older mags that had a weak spring. He bought another mag and threw the other away and hasnt had a problem since

I've got a 597 in 17HMR and haven't had any problem with it. Lots of good information on the 597 at rimfirecentral.com. Check them out.

I've got one in .22 LR and only had 1 misfeed - granted it was Remington Thunderbolts. Never misfed with my CCI Velocitors.
