which one do you reccomend because i shoot squirrels all the time with a 44 magnum pistol and i need the best all around gun on the list
p.s. i own all of these guns and need advice on my 28 because i only hunt turkeys......... itis a good gun for them because it is perfect for turkeys but i dont know about rabbits.

I don't understand your question? What do you want to use it for? I can't see the 28 gauge being inexpensive. I thought it was one of the more expensive gauges. Definitely more than the 17 per shell. And it's in between a 410 and 20 gauge so it wouldn't my first choice for a turkey gun. In my opinion it's a better bunny gun than a turkey gun.

For squirrel and rabbit the 28 gauge would work pretty well. Or the .22 if your a good shot and they stay still long enough. I don't consider the 22 being long range though, 50 yards, maybe 75 if your good with it.

The 17 is accurate and flatter shooting, good easily out to 100-130 yards without compensating for drop. The down side it it's pretty destructive on small game. Head shots are pretty much a must if you plan on eating them. And it's good for larger stuff like P dogs, small woodchucks, crows, feral cats, fox and some shoot yotes with them. About 10 bucks for 50 rounds where I live, not cheap, but not what I would consider real expensive either.

The 22-250 is definitely a long range gun and the most expensive to shoot. And way overkill for bunnies and squirrels. Mostly a varmint gun, but in a pinch you could deer hunt with it if you used the right bullets.

Not sure where you are from, but you may want to check your state's game laws. Here in Pennsylvania it is illegal to shoot squirrels with a centerfire rifle cartridge. Rimfire only. As far as the shotgun goes, Paul hit that one solid. The 28 ga. is a fine bunny and grouse gun, but too far on the small side to be a good turkey killer. A 20 ga. with 3" shells would be on the bottom end of acceptance in my mind...............

you can use a 22lr or shotgun for squirls and a shot gun for rabbits. My cousin uses a 22 pistol when bunny hunting with dogs, hit one when did was running one time.

i live in texas and it was my mistake i mis typed a shoot with a 22 revolver not a 44 sorry bout that and i have killed a turkey with a 410 but also i do only aim for the head on everything i shoot except for deer

Ok, I am a little confused on the questions. But a 28 is fine for bunny wabbits.. But they aren't cheap to shoot..

That 28 gauge can be used for turkey, Winchester has some 1oz loads of #6. I patterned my 28 with the Win loads and it weren't too bad, not as good as a 20ga but if you keep the range down to 20 or so yards it would be better than a 410 for sure. And I've been able to find shells for the 28 cheeper than for a 410. I really like the 28, too bad it isn't more popular. Last year one of my hunting partners killed a turkey with a contender 410 pistol, I think it was a lucky shot but he did kill the bird.

Technically the gauge shouldn't matter on a shotgun. Power output is the same irregardless. You just get less shot is all. Doesn't matter whether you use a 410 or a 12 ga ballistically. A number 4 pellet moving at 1200 fps is a number 4 pellet at 1200 fps. Doesn't matter which gun it comes out of. The rub is the larger gauge guns let you shoot more shot at the same speed. Which gives you a more dense pattern and often extended range. And you can probably get more speed out of a 12 ga as well if you go with lighter load.

So I'm not saying a 28 ga or 410 will not kill a turkey, because they will obviously. Just that it puts you at a disadvantage over a larger ga gun that can throw a more dense pattern at longer ranges. And the 20 and 12 have more options on shell choice as well.

Honestly for me, if I lived in an area where I could use a rifle for turkey I would use the 17.

You did hit the nail on the head though Paul!

12 gauge 3.5" MAGis whatI feed myturkeys! Hang up the .410 for sure and take the 20 if that's all you've got to choose from.
