Default Mini 14?

Does anyone own or have shot the new design Mini14/30's.i have heard and read that Ruger put heavy heavier barrels on them and tightened up the specs.Supposedly they are alot more accurate than older models.I have been thinking about getting one and was wondering if this was true or not.

The only 3 examples of the newest mini 14s I've shot grouped from just under 1" at 100 yards to 1.75" and that's with 5 shot groups.

In that case they definately tightened them up a lot.

That is definately making 'em shoot alot better.

My Mini14 would shoot a 1.5-1.75" 2 shot group, then the 3rd shot would open it up to 3". Still have it sittin in the closet collecting dust. Maybe someday I'll do something with it.

Rammer-you do know it's a easy matter to rebarrel minis and install adjustable gas blocks.

Yeah I realize that. My Mini is a 200th year of liberty gun, kinda why I haven't tinkered with it yet.
