Default .22 ammo...Is it all the same??

As far as accuracy is concerned out of a Ruger 10/22.....Is all ammo the same? Will a Federal or Remington bulk pack of 550 rounds for $12 shoot as accurate as a more expensive box of CCIs, or "match" .22 ammo?

Thanks in advance.

NO the match ammo actually shoots better. But unless you are trying to get the most out of your 22 for a competition then the bulk pack will be fine. Just keep in mind your gun might not feed the bulk remington as well as others.

I have to second the NO. From my experiences, Remington ammo of any type is filthy ammo and jams all my .22s excessively. Federal bulk use to shoot great but last two boxes I had about 50 missfire on me. Their match ammo does good however.I LOVE CCI ammo although not available in bulk it seems to be topnotch in velocity and accuracy. The Winchester also seems to be very reliable in any form for my guns and like Federal it is pretty clean ammo.

The bulk will work, it just depends how well you want your gun to preform. Word to the wise dont even bother with thegold jacket or yellow jacket or whatever thebulk remingtons are.

I got rid of my 22 lr and got a 22 mag. I got more accuracy and power and the ammo is only a couple dollars more then the match 22 lr rounds. I now own 2 Marlin 22 mags and a MArlin 17 HMR. I plan on trying a 17 Mach 2 somtime in the near future.

No. Your have to try them all and see which brands will shoot in your gun. A gun is like a individual it has its own taste

No they are not all the same. That being said I got a new 10/22 last Christmas and a box of Remington bulk ammo. It is dirt to say the least but i love cleaning my guns so it doesn't bother me. I have put over around two hundred rounds through the rifle so far and haven't had a single problem.

Unless you are shooting competitvely, try all the bulk stuff, find the one that your rifle likes, and go with that. You should be able to find something that will shoot accurate enough to consistantly kill squirrels at say 100 yds. For the average .22, the average shooter and cheap ammo, that is pretty good.

I have never had much luck with any of the bulk stuff, and remington is usually the worst. Accuracy isn't always that bad, just that there isn't a lot of consistency and I tend to get a lot of mssfires and duds.

And honestly the match ammo isn't always the most accurate out of my guns either. It really pays to buy a bunch of different ammo and test it out.

In one of my guns my best 100 yard groups were with CCI velocitors, not the expensive match grade ammo.

I usually have pretty good luck with standard velocity winchester hunting ammo.

My most accurate 22 shell is a CCI Blazer. They like all the others have gone up but they are only like 1.30 a box here
