Anyone using, buying, liking, dis-liking? The only thing I don't like is its does not have a rail top for optics options. Just set up for its own 1"rings.

IMO, and probably a few others here as well, there's nothing remotely close to a Mini-14 being a target rifle, as in beingMOA accurate. I'm sure that there are some here that'll say that theirs will shoot gnats off a plate of grits in a heavy fog at 100 yards, but I haven't found that to be the case.
I think the whole purpose of the Mini-14 was to give the American shooter a simular version of its big brother, the M-14, which we all know was one of the best battle rifles that this great nation has ever produced. The Mini-14 fell well short of living up to its big brothers reputation for accuracy.
IMO, they're really good plinkers. The ammo they shoot can be, and will be readily available for eons to come, so buying one wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as you don't expect thumbnail size groups from it. Simp
Seem to have this problem everywhere. Nobody pays attention or is familiar w/ it.
We know what it is. It has that harmonic balancer thing on it. An AR-15 would most likely be a better buy for accuracy.

First post didn't. Already have an AR. Too much hassle running around with one of those. People call the cops, I prefer not to be hassled when hunting.

Sorry for the confusion! I Googled "Mini-14 Target" and came up with some reviews. If you're wanting one you should sort through these as well. From what I gather, it's a pretty deacent rifle but laser-like accuracy shouldn't be expected. The one article that I read refered to it as a good coyote rifle, but not a good prarie dog rifle from 200 yards. Take that for what it's worth.
Ya, I read the reviews, just hoping to et more on hands use by laymen. My AR is set up fro Bench, Prairie dogs (24" Kreiger HBAR) if I ever go someday. I am planning on using it for coyotes which will be 75 yds or under except for rare occasions. I jsut don't want to put a scope on it, was hoping for a big tube red dot of some kind butthe gundoes not lend itself to many mounting options.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the extra doohickies and price, Ruger only got their "target" model into the 1.5 MOA catagory. That's not thick enough, I'd stay clear of it.
If you want an accurate Mini, call up Accuracy Systems. They are pretty expensive, but they will actually shoot good.

Thats with a few test and few types of ammo. The tests I saw were closer to 1". And if most shots are under 100, I think 1" is fine for 'yotes & fox. But if there is another .223 autoloader out there thats up to the task I'd be intersted. Voltz is a nice gun but heavy too and way too much money right now. I already dropped $4K on the accurized AR build.
