Default Sights on Springfield 1911 GI .45

I have a question about the Springfield Armory 1911 GI .45? I just got one and the manual says that the rear sights are "fixed 3-dot HP sights." It looks crooked, like it's kind of hanging off of the slide, is there any moving it on my own or is it stuck like that for life?

The sight you are referring to is drift adjustable. If it is indeed "crooked" it's because the dovetail is machined crokked however that's unheard of from this manufacturer. Perhaps it's just that you ain't accustomed to that particuler type/shape sight.

Well, by crooked I mean it's slid over to the left more than it needs to be and the sight is not zeroed. Can I move this?

Sure! All you need to do is use a brass punch and CAREFULLY,slowly (a lil bit at a time) tap it over. Remember-you need to move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet's impact to go.
