The ruger hawkeye is improved version of the reliable m77 mk 2 and trigger pull has been drastically improved over factory mk 2 triggers. Hogue stocks are perhaps the best rifle stocks available within their price range. Is the stock the pillar bedded model or the aluminum bedding block model?

I think the Hawkeyes are nice. The "new" trigger is better but still not what I would consider as great. They can be touched up by a competent gunsmith or someboby with the correct knowledge. I like the 3 position safety and these guns are tough workhorses. I liked the Green Hogue overmolded stock too. I'm about to grab a 25-06 if I can get the dealer off dead center a little.

Picked up a hawkeye in a .25-06 with the magnum contour barrel this past march-ish. Love the rifle. Shoots really well, trigger isnt bad, isnt great but isnt bad - and is really easy to handle. Got it in stainless (matte stainless) and its really easy to handle and like i said - shoots really well
