RE: Rem Model 721
what's not to like..... Mine is a 300 H&h but I had to restock it as the original stock was too low for scope use.....It otherwise functions flawlessly and is so accurate it's scary! It was my choice on my plains game safari.....and I left home a few far more expensive guns!!!
I gave $265 for it and then restocked it.....heck of a deal!!!!

Vapodog,
I too have this model in 300 H&H. I really like it.
I know someone who has a .270 for sale so I think I will buy it.
It looks like a little sister to the .300
Only one issue; the serial number on the bolt does not match the one on the barrel of the .270... I need to find out if this is a major problem first.

There is not a thing wrong with 721 Rems. I own two of them, a 270 and an '06. Both function well, shoot well, and if you are so inclined, are very adaptable to BDL stocks with floorplate and magazine box and follower. Lots of gunbuilders use them as a starting point.
Another good thing about them, is for some reason, the market value usually is less than others of the same class. Basically, they are just an older 700 ADL.

I too have a Rem 721 in 300 H&H that I inherated from my dad when he passed away. My brother-in-law lost or got away with alot of 300 H&H brass. I my have 100rds. Dad load was H4831 with 180gr. Remington bronze point bullets and it is veary accurate. Back to the subject. I don't see anything wrong with the Rem 721.

Is 300 H&H brass hard to find? I seen 2 boxes of the loaded ammo today in faded boxes.

I have not looked for any but I think its readily available. I had a 721 in 257 Roberts. It had a cracked stock when I got it so I replaced it with a used one and the gun shot really well. I shot one in 300 H&H that my Uncle had. He took a ton of Plains game with it plus some bigger game as well.
I just checked, Midway has Nosler Brass in 300 H&H and says Norma brass is coming soon. Better buy One DD

I was just wondering James. I been trying to buy a 721 for quite a while from a friend of mine but so far they wont come off it. Its a 270 so possibly a candidat for rebarelling as I already have 2 270's lol.
