S&W 5946 Model Info?

Just picked up the model a few days ago from a retired PO. This pistol was issued to him from the NYPD back around 1990 when he transferred from the Transit Authority, at which time he already had one. The pistol is brand new, never fired and still in original package etc. Looking for any possibly info, web pages or article reviews on this model. Also, any info frommembers that own this pistol would greatly be appreciated.

I have a 5900 but am not familar with the 5946.

I did a little checking and found that the 5946 is a variation of the 5900 series. It was offered as an alternative to the Glock. Most were double action only and they seem to go for about 350.00. I like the 5900 mine is actually a 915, a parkreized version of the 5900.

Thanks James. Seems the price varies on this model, but I'm pleased on the price of $250.00 which includedthree 15 round mags, a belt holster, 300 rounds of FMJ and 200 round of the 124 + P Hallow point rounds. Going to the range this week to sight it in. Still would love to hear of any other members who may have this particular pistol.. Also looking to purchase a shoulder holster for this pistol, any good sites to visit James??

I always buy my holsters where I can take the gun in and try it in the holster. I have not had good luck with ones that are supposed to fit.

I also make some of mine as I love working with leather.
